How To Overcome Anxiety

If you are looking for ways on how to overcome anxiety, the first step is to see a professional. Self-diagnosis of any type of physical or mental condition is unwise and can be dangerous. A professional psychologist can help you understand your anxiety and prescribe medication or other effective techniques.

Plenty of rest and exercise can help you to overcome anxiety. Learning relaxation techniques for anxiety, meditation and knowing how to cope with stress are all ways you can use when dealing with anxiety.

Relaxation Techniques For Anxiety

When you are dealing with anxiety, sometimes it helps to take in a slow, deep breath, count to 3, then let it out slowly. Breathing into a paper bag can also help if you are experiencing shortness of breath or nausea.

Other relaxation techniques for anxiety include focusing on someplace you would like to be and imagining yourself being there. Imagine the sights, smells, and feelings of a relaxing environment. Some people have what they call "happy places." If they ever feel an anxiety attack coming on they will focus on their "happy place".

Sometimes you can even coach yourself out of an anxiety attack. Tell yourself that what you are feeling is normal and it will pass.

Meditation and yoga can also help when dealing with anxiety.  Some people find that cleaning and cooking help them to overcome anxiety.
